Our Man in Moscow is getting excited
Well can you believe it - today it's the day of the grand final of Eurovision 2009.
Having seen yet another dress rehearsal yesterday - this time the first run through of the final - we have decided to save all the excitement of tonight to, well, tonight.
Apostolos and I are in the apartment, Karen has taken herself off to a museum. We're listening to Eurovision Gold on my iPod, and Apostolos says that it brings back so many good memories. Music can do that, you know.
So all eyes turn to the final and to who will win. As I have said earlier, I can be the kiss of death with Eurovision entries... although I did get 16/20 qualifiers correct - how did you do Jamie? (I got 13/20. I'm not ashamed. Jame)
That all goes out f the window today, however!
If the bookies are to be believed we'll be in Oslo this time next year - which would be fine with me. Trouble is that I want Iceland to win - it gives me goose bumps every time. I want Bosnia to win, as it's anthemic and they are well choreographed (notice how the lead singer never establishes eye-contact with the TV audience - I noticed that in the rehearsal yesterday). I *love* Sakis and the Greek song.
And what of the lovely Jade, who I saw at the UK press conference yesterday.
Well, we should be proud of Jade if she wins or loses tonight. I saw her perform and it was an impressive vocal display. Jade was joined on stage by 'the Lord' and all went without a hitch or cracked note - which was a relief!
I'm still not sure that it's our year - well, actually we know it's not going to be our year. If it is I'll be well chuffed, and also out of pocket - have publicly declared that I'll send my mum and sister to see Oliver! In the West End if we do!
Right, well I'm off to see the sights in Moscow. Top 10 predictions later...
