The Country Has Spoken

And after that, we can now present to you...

There's nothing she's afraid of, she'll show you what she's made of. This is Jade Ewen with the UK entry for the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest.

Plenty of money notes in there. Let's just hope they pay dividends.

Now, Boom Bang a Blog has a confession to make. Throughout the competition, The Twins making the trip to Moscow on behalf of the United Kingdom was the sort of thought which genuinely chilled the blood. However, their take on Lord Andy's tune was actually rather charming - but we still don't think they'd have hit the notes in the Olimpiskiy Arena.

But surely twins should be singing a song called Our Time anyway?

And coming in third was Welsh farmer's son Mark Evans. Unfortunately, his interpretation of My Time/It's My Time (whatever it winds up being called) - and the first act to sing it on the night - was so static and stilted (like Michael Ball balancing nervously atop a flagpole), it didn't give the greatest first impression of ALW and Diane Warren's song. It's a pity, as he had arguably the most controlled, reliable singing voice in the entire competition. Taking all the weeks of Your Country Needs You into consideration, he would have been a worthy runner-up.

So there you have it. Boom Bang a Blog voted for Jade twice, so we're rather chuffed with the final result. And, in a piece of breaking news from the winner's press conference - Lord Andy will accompany our girl at the piano on stage at Moscow.

But only if she asks him to.
