So - who do they sound like, exactly?
Earlier this week, Switzerland officially announced its entry for Moscow and it's Lovebugs with the tune The Highest Heights.
Ever since the tune was released, people say it sounds like (deep breath) U2/Lightning Seeds/New Order/Pet Shop Boys/Depeche Mode/OMD, or indeed, any early '90s pop-rock anthem.
Boom Bang a Blog needs to put the record straight - who exactly do Lovebugs sound like?
And why does a band like this, have a name like that?

I thought New Order, very distinctive guitar sound - but is it right for Eurovision? There doesn't seem to be a discernable "hook" to the song, and, nice as it is to listen to, don't know whether it will stick in viewers minds.
Could YOU whistle it after hearing it only once?
I say New Order too. It's the Peter Hook-esque bass that does it.
To quote that old chestnut, it's too good for Eurovision. My favourite entry so far. It won't trouble the scoreboard come May, but I'll still be listening to it in June. And beyond.
There's a few bands who have inspired Lovebug here I think:
U2
New Order
Pet Shop Boys (the better stuff)
Aha (definitely a Euro rock/pop feel)
A bit too light for Depeche Mode I thought.
But overall not a bad track - bound to get no-where in Moscow.
It's been bugging me and I've finally got it! The vocals are the image of Psychedelic Furs (Pretty In Pink?) with the instruments being New Order
At last! Decent music in Eurovision. Eastern Bloc take note - this is how to do it.
Mmm. Very Neil Tenantesque vocals, but the guitar sound is more akin to the kind of Pop/Rock that Lightning Seeds/Natalie Imbruglia were churning out in 1994. Not too bad for a Swiss entry. Put it this way, the only other Swiss ESC pedigree I know of is by a certain Canadian diva, so a marked improvement in my vaguely disinterested book.
GREAT BLOG by the way!!! Good job to whoever is responsible, this kind of news just does not find it's way into mainstream media channels.
Nice post.
