Get Thee to the Dancefloor
Now, isn't this marvellous? The North West of England (that's the bit Boom Bang a Blog lives in) is going to get its very own Eurovision disco.
We said it was marvellous.
For one night only, Bacchanalia in Chapel Walks, Manchester, plays host to Boom Bang a Bang (we've consulted our lawyers about the name) where lots of excitable Eurovision fans, deprived of the chance to shake their booty to Shady Lady, Hero, This Is My Life, Qele, Qele - and probably not the song from Portugal - at provincial nightspots before, during and after this year's Contest, will finally get their tushes on the dancefloor for a good old Eurobop.
And as one half of Baccara said to the other half of Baccara during their 1978 Luxembourgeoise entry Parlez Vous Francaic: "Go on, I want details."
OK then.
The beats start pumping at 8.30pm (unless the disco starts with this year's winner, in which case, the beats start pumping at 8.33pm) on Friday, November 28, and continue on their meloditastic journey until 3am on Saturday, November 29. Goodness, here's hoping the bar has Horlicks on tap if it all goes on that late.
Warm malty beverages aside, there will be Eurovision-themed drinks available and an abundance of European flags.
On the three previous occasions this event has been held, it's been a complete sell-out, so anyone interested shouldn't chance it at the door on the night.
Tickets are £5 in advance. To find out more, email event organiser Paul Marks Jones at paul@e-ventuality.com or call 0870 300 9510.
Click here for a Google map with a handy arrow pointing to Bacchanalia. As you can see, it's not that far from Manchester Victoria train station.
To get you in the disco mood, here's some daft uptempo Eurovision nonsense from Germany in 1994. It's called Wir Geben 'ne Party, it sounds a bit like Stars On '45, it came third, and whoever dressed the backing group should be taken outside and sat on the naughty step.
Rock.
