Would our friends from Portugal please take the floor?

EDCPortugal08.jpgNow, this dynamic duo has a lot of responsibility weighing down on their 20 talented toes.

If they score the most points in Glasgow on Saturday night it will be the first time Portugal has ever won a Eurovision Contest, dancing or otherwise.

No pressure then.

Doing their best to ignore the burden are Joao Tiago and Raquel Tavares, who won the third series of Portugal's version of Strictly Come Dancing.

Luckily, there isn't even a whiff of foul play in the dancing history of this pair, so if the UK doesn't come up trumps on September 6, Boom Bang a Blog is going to give its unbending support to the Portuguese Two.

Joao, 23, has been ballroom dancing for about 13 years and has represented Portugal at loads of very, very important dancing competitions, especially those with a latino flavour. He also teaches amateurs where to find the fire in their soul and then transfer it to their feet to impress the objects of their affection. What a kind man.

Raquel, on the other hand, sings fado. That's a particularly Portuguese style of singing which always sounds a bit morbid to BBaB's ears, but is nonetheless incredibly popular throughout the world (don't listen to what we say, we're really quite rubbish).

Although her vocal chords don't appear to have taken Raquel close to the Song Contest, the 23-year-old has won the doemstic competition dedicated entirely to fado, which led to her appearing in cities such as Paris, Rome and Madrid. And now, Glasgow.

It would be sooooooooooooo good for Portugal to finally win a Eurovision. Let's hope they've packed enough punch along with the dance shoes.
