Who's Doing What and When
Right, there may not be much in the way of blanket promotion across the airwaves for the competition, but the 2008 Eurovision Dance Contest begins at 8pm BST tomorrow (Saturday) at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre in Glasgow.
We know who's taking part, but when exactly are they playing? And do we know what moves each couple will be showing off to a watching continent?
Of course we do. We're Boom Bang a Blog.
In order of performance, we have:
01: Sweden
Style: Cha-Cha
02: Austria
Style: Slowfox & Jive
03: Denmark
Style: Fusion of Samba, Tango, Paso Doble and contemporary Jazz Dance (in two minutes?)
04: Azerbaijan
Style: Fusion of Paso Doble, national Azeri Folk Dance, Rumba and Tango (in 120 seconds?)
05: Ireland
Style: Paso Doble and Rumba with a Hard Shoe Irish Dance
06: Finland
Style: Tango
07: Netherlands
Style: Rumba and Show Dance
08: Lithuania
Style: Freestyle of Rumba, Cha-Cha and acrobatic elements (?)
09: United Kingdom
Style: Fusion of Paso Doble, Tango and Jive (we're not biased, but that sounds absolutely marvellous)
10: Russia
Style: Fusion of Cha-Cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble and Russian National Dance (that's just showing off)
11: Greece
Style: Fusion of Latin dances and, of course, Cheating.
12: Portugal
Style: Fusion of Rumba and Tango
13: Poland
Style: Fusion of Rumba and Cha-Cha with Modern Jazz Dance flavour
14: Ukraine
Style: Jive with elements of rock 'n' roll and Ukrainian folk dance (bet this wins)
As you may have guessed, each couple has two minutes to perform a suitably dazzling routine before the televotoing public rings in its points for the country next door the one they think is the best.
There will also be four professional judges casting their eye over proceedings as well, with each of them carrying the same weight of an entire country (not physically, but score-wise - otherwise they wouldn't be very good at dancing at all, or getting up off furniture).
But Russia or Ukraine will still win. Or Greece. Just like the Song Contest.
