My Bestest Eurovision Song - Number 3

By Jamie McLoughlin on Sep 19, 08 11:19 AM

We're stopping off in Wallasey, Wirral, today and it's our first choice from a lady Eurovision fan.

Step forward, Miss Lorna Hughes.

Lorna says: "My favourite Eurovision entry of all time is Stronger Every Minute by Lisa Andreas, the Cypriot entry from 2004.

"It's not one for commitment-phobes - it's a mournful power ballad about a love that "won't ever die", emploring a lover to "stay with me..for all my life". Heavy stuff.

"But joking aside, what's not to like about Stronger Every Minute?

"It's gimmick-free and a very appealing, simple love song packed with emotion."

Not only that, it was performed by a teenage girl from Kent in Istanbul. Shouldn't this be a UK entrant by default?

Here is Lisa on stage on the big night. Cracking choice, Miss Hughes.

What is your favourite Eurovision song? Tell us in no more than 150 words (just like Lorna has done so here) and we'll post up your choice with a YouTube of the performance (unless it's from the 1956 or 1964 Contests - as no TV recordings of them exist...). Email your choice to jamie.mcloughlin@liverpool.com

Smashing.

I couldn't agree less! The song was so over-marked it stretched credibility even tighter than her ill-fitting outfit. Her performance was so awful there should have been an air-raid warning so we could have hidden in sound-proof bunkers. It was so bad it made you cast doubt on the significance of previous Cyprus entries. She looked like an overweight lobotomised rabbit and I’ve seen glove puppets with more animation. The whole performance moved at the pace of a funeral hearse with flat tyres and was about as welcome as the Black Death, but seemed to last considerably longer. Mind you, I've mellowed a bit over it since 2004.
