Our Man in Belgrade - Day 6
![]()
Not long to go now until the second semi final. What has Chris Knight been up to today?
Things in Belgrade are heating up for the second semi-final tonight and most people took the chance last night to have a quieter evening. By quiet I mean things tended to wind down about 3am!!!
We went to the Eurocafé and were treated to the dulcet tones of the one and only Baby Doll who came last for Yugoslavia in 1991. She seemed to have recovered from that humiliation though and crooned her way through several jazz inspired numbers that made the Moldovan effort sound exciting!
I say crooned, but even that would be too generous. Baby Doll, ever the professional and realising that her voice probably isn't her best asset, had decided to mime last night and completely missed her cue. At the point when the singing came through the speakers, she was bent double at the back of the stage adjusting her shoe! She legged it to the mic, but the damage was done and the audience were in fits of laughter. She seemed to take it all in her stride though and denied us a chance to hear Brazil. Some people thought this was a punishment, others a blessing. Either way, it was a mistake of truly epic euro proportions and the funniest thing I've witnessed since my first viewing of Rebeka Dremelj dragging boys in helmets across a stage!
Enjoy tonight. We're holding our own mini-sweepstake so fingers crossed for a cool 10,000 dinar. I'm going to be controversial and say Sweden aren't going to the final. Only time will tell!
